longhairgal you never say key words like some or the cases I have known you simply say "they" in ambiguity as if this is what 90% of JW's do. The problem is you do need stats to back up claims. This is what justifies you saying it. Again are you willing to paint blacks, Hispanics or Asians with the same stroke? If someone came on this board claiming the majority of minority employees were horrible employees would you be supporting them?

5go what proof do you have? Where are the stats and facts to back up such claims? To try to say that dubs are more likely to sue you need to give some figures. By most of the posters claims on this thread you could say the majority of black people are lazy and just looking to sue employees over discrimination, in fact I'll bet more black non JW's sue their employers then JW's. Does this mean that blacks are bad employees?
longhairgal Like 5go where are your facts? Again a lot of posters are taking a Ray Franz reference and creating their own figures to go along with it. Dubs are probably just as likely to tell someone about a condition as anyone working in a hospital that finds out about a friend. All I am saying is if you guys are going to make claims that dubs are these horrible employees who steal, sue and give out confidential info you need to back it up with stats.
Again it's just those who want to take advantage of the system. It has nothing to do with Race, Age, Religion or Sex. Just greed, I would venture to say that dubs in general are LESS likely to sue their employer. The only case I had ever heard of where a dub sued and got tons of money was the whole AT&T thing where AT&T was clearly at fault and lost.

JWs who date or marry non-JWs are taught how to avoid reality
by Lady Lee inthis board has seen dozens of threads from people who have gotten involved with a jw/lapsed jws.
most have no idea what being a jw means.
many don't even discover the jw connection until they are quite involved.

Yea that usually happens. I was dating a girl who actually studied with my Mom just to appease her. I kept telling her not to do it, and she was like, "I like what I am learning". I was shocked. I think it's half and half that way. Many boyfriends/girlfriends of a DF'd or returning member will go along just to make things easier. That's where the problem seems to lie, just like with anything in a relationship if your not 100% vested you will grow to slowly regret it. When I dated that girl, it amazed me to what lengths people will go if they think they are in love. Oh I should add when I dated her I had no thoughts at all of going back, but as I said she just wanted to appease my Mom.

Debunking the Reagan Myth
by nvrgnbk indebunking the reagan mythby paul krugmanpublished: january 21, 2008historical narratives matter.
thats why conservatives are still writing books denouncing f.d.r.
and the new deal; they understand that the way americans perceive bygone eras, even eras from the seemingly distant past, affects politics today.. and its also why the furor over barack obamas praise for ronald reagan is not, as some think, overblown.

Reagan what a joke. I guess Obama forgot Reagan only won the presidential nominee because of a racist fellow from NC by the name of Jesse Helms. Later Helms and Reagan became enemies, but still he was pandering to Jesse big time! This was when Jesse was at his dirtiest too. So anyone who does that automatically looses all respect from me. Let alone Ronald used "trickle down" economy which clearly does not work.

wha happend? This is what happens when anyone in a small group or family hires someone in that small group or family. They want special treatment. This is exactly what happens with most family businesses the family members feel entitled. Same thing with JW's hiring JW's or Mormons hiring Mormons. Your telling me out of 6,000,000 JW's that there aren't thousands upon thousands of good workers? Bull! Just because you hired over "50" JW's and I am sure EVERY SINGLE ONE TURNED OUT BAD, doesn't mean all of them are bad or even the majority are.

I think the appeal of the internet is just too much. I am sure they aren't loosing too much money but it's just a logical move finance wise, even if they were making tons to begin with. Kind of like how newspapers are still profitable just not profitable enough for the people that own them.

My Mom's sister's husband was a formal elder and got DF'd. It then came out he was molesting my cousins. He was reported to the police and evidently was still going to meetings trying to get reinstated. It was a huge scandal at the hall. My cousins are both really fucked now because of it. He got like 10 years in prison for it or something like that.

Wow what a horribly biased website and what broad strokes most of you paint with. The same could be said of Blacks, Asians, eastern Europeans, Mormons, Baptists or anyone who has a mind to take advantage of the system. What of the thousands upon thousands of Witnesses that are exceptional employees? Sometimes you guys just add fuel to the "apostate" stereotypes.
**edited to add- I am almost 100% sure these "multiple doctor instances" stem from COC where Franz tells a story about a women who turned over some info to the local elders and was quickly fired. I would like to see proof of this epidemic in America.

The fact is that in the OT it doesn't make having sex before marriage a serious offense. If you took someone's virginity you were married as BA has pointed out over and over again. I would think this has something to do with some of the gnostic teachings on Virginity which was infiltrating the Christian congregation (probably wrong though). I am sure many felt that you could not be pure unless you were still a virgin. Here Paul was just saying that it didn't really matter and ones shouldn't argue over such petty things as the Corinthians did. My two cents anyways.
Notice verse 25-28: Now about virgins: I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy. Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for you to remain as you are. Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife. But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.
So it wasn't so much about sex as it was just about the belief that if you got married you were some lower in the ranks. Much like today how single pioneer bethelites always get so much praise from dubs.
Also verse 1 can be translated as "it is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman". Backing up what BA was saying.
